It includes pre-vocational studies and six real trade subject tracks (Solar Photovoltaic Installation, Fashion Design and Garment Making, Livestock Farming, Beauty and Cosmetology, Computer Hardware and GSM Repairs, and Horticulture and Crop Production), each with its own full set of themes and topics rather than being lumped under one generic "trade subjects" label. Civic education and digital literacy run as genuine cross-cutting threads too, with digital literacy taught as its own distinct subject at Primary level and again, at greater depth, as Digital Technologies at JSS and SS level.

Once a curriculum is loaded, teachers build their term-by-term scheme of work straight from it, not from a separate document that quietly drifts out of sync. When public holidays, exam weeks, or an unplanned closure eat into the term, the scheme reflows what is left across the days that remain and flags exactly what has to be compressed, instead of a teacher discovering the shortfall in week eleven.

NERDC writes the national curriculum down to individual expected outcomes, per topic, per term, per class. Most schools are nominally teaching to that level of detail. Very few systems check whether a topic was actually taught, and fewer still check whether it was ever tied back to a real assessment, which is exactly the gap that quietly costs marks in WAEC and NECO.
